About Shree Jagad Guru Shree Kripalu Ji Maharaj
Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj Profile
Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Mahraj is considered as a spiritual leader, Jagadguru and people feel blessed to have got enlightened in his guidance. He is a strong pillar for making people realize the spirituality within and the way to conquer peace and happiness. Shri Kripaluji Maharaj's endless shower of Divine Bliss on devotees brings people from around the world towards his Ashram. He has the knowledge of all Vedic scriptures and Upanishads. Kripaluji Maharaj is lovingly called Maharaj ji by his devotees. His Sankirtans bring a wave in the hearts of devotees and they feel the presence of the divine in front of them. His literature has helped & inspired souls that are seeking the true Bliss of Shree Krishna.
Shri Kripaluji Maharaj ji was born in Mangarh, Pratapgarh District, near Allahabad in the year 1922. In childhood he delighted the hearts of everyone around him with his sweet smile and serene look. He spent his childhood in the village, attending a local school, but it was apparent to the villagers that Shri Maharaj Ji was an unusual child with divine nature. The Managarhs considered him extraordinary and revered him, even as a boy. They found him mischievous and delightfully eccentric, and whoever met Shri Maharaj Ji was immediately fond of him. As a custom of those times in the traditional families, his elderly people got him married at an early age. He had extraordinary virtues and people observed the deep philosophy he had. When he was fourteen years of age he went to Indore to study Sanskrit
literature, and, amazed his teachers as he mastered all within two years. His teachers were stunned by the knowledge and the intelligence of this young boy.
At the young age of 16, he attained the highest stage of Divine Love- Mahabhav Samadhi during that period he spent many years meditating in the dense forests of Chitrakut. After that he spent his time not only in self realization which he had achieved but now to guide others on the path of Divine love. He walked to Chitrakut and Sharbhang and graced the deserving souls living there. He stayed in the Bhao state and there gave Sankirtans on Radha Krishna, every one present and listening to those Sankirtans experienced the Divine love of the Radha in him. That was the impact his Sankirtans had. In the same state of Divinely-absorbed-consciousness he moved towards Mahoba and then to Jhansi. In those days people used to call him Paramhans ji because he was always in an absolute state of Radha Krishna love. For about two years he stayed in that state.
It was in 1940 he came to Vrindavan. Swooning while he uttered ‘Krishna, Krishna,’ dancing in ecstasy and this excited the hearts of the devotees who saw him. News about him spread around and a few devotees with a longing heart came from Mathura to invite him to their house. There he met many families and became their family part. Been absorbed in the ecstatic states of Radha Bhao, it was hard for him to communicate with the people. So, for the good of the people, he subsided his Bhao state to some extent and decided to reveal the leela Bliss of Radha Kishan to the people by regular satsang which mainly contained the chanting (Sankirtans) of the names, virtues and the leelas of Radha Kishan. He started his satsang in the houses of the devotees in Mathura, and then in Agra and Allahabad, and so on.
Resounding Uttar Pradesh with ‘Hari Bol...’ he again came back to Mahu in early 1942. Apart from nam Sankirtans, he began to sing leela pad (songs) also. While in Mahu he freely distributed the Bliss of Kishan name through nam Sankirtans. He frequently visited Mandaleshwar and Maheshwar and had nonstop nam Sankirtans programs of mostly one to two weeks or even more in those places and also near the Narmada River.
All the devotees of Maheshwar, Mandaleshwar and Mahu were very close to Shree Maharaj ji like a family as he stayed there over 4 months. When a devotee sees the Bhao state of Shree Maharaj ji during the chanting or he sees Shree Maharajji’s ‘Hari Bol’ chanting (on video) one experiences the divine greatness with a dedicated devotional mind. On the request of the devotees, Shree Maharaj ji documented the devotional philosophy of Krishna love “Prem Ras Siddhant” in 1955. It’s widely distributed all over India. In October 1955 he organized a religious convention in Chitrakut in which the prominent spiritual leaders of India and the Jagadgurus participated. Mahamahopadhyay Giridhar Sharma, President of Kashi Vidvat Parishad, had also come and was thrilled with the Divine dignity and the Divine knowledge of Shree Kripaluji Maharaj ji.
In another convention organized in 1956 in Kanpur. His speeches went on for seven days. The congregation had almost all the scholars of Varanasi. They had never seen such a Divine personality who is absolutely well versed in all of the scriptures (Vedas, Upanishads, Sutras, Upvedas, Vedanggas, Darshan Shastras, Puranas, Itihas, the philosophies of the Jagadgurus and the writings of the rasik Saints etc.), and were overwhelmed to see Shri Kripaluji Maharaj so humble, kind and absorbed in Radha Krishna Bhao, which radiated from his personality. He arrived in Kashi in 1957 and proceeded to speak for ten days in the hardest forms of Sanskrit in front of 500 of the most revered scholars. Shri Kripaluji Mahraj was 34 at that time and he addresses the prestigious Kashi Vidvat Parishad, which is India’s highest council of 500 Vedic scholars. They honored him with the title of Jagadguru (Spiritual Master of the World) on 14 January 1957.
Shri Kripaluji Maharaj Ji’s showers Divine bliss on every individual who meets him or hears his recitals, Parvachans or Sankirtans. Many of his literary works help one to attain the path of God-realization and Divine knowledge. Many Sanyasi preachers have been trained by Shri Maharaj ji. His teachings are simple straightforward and have a deeper impact on every soul. Shree Maharaj ji says that the desired goal of a soul is to receive the selfless Divine love of Radha Krishna. They are the Soul of your soul and are eternally related to you. Knowing this, you have to develop a deep desire to selflessly serve them and love them and strengthen your faith in them. Keeping away from bad associations, yearningly remember them and chant their name and the leelas. That’s all you have to do and leave the rest upon them. Just remember that they are yours and you belong to them. They are most kind and causelessly merciful; they will do the best for you.
Nowadays the social situation has changed and fewer people learn Sanskrit. So, for the convenience of the majority of the people, Shree Maharaj ji has revealed his philosophical and devotional books in the Hindi language. His writings are include the Prem Ras Siddhant (the philosophy of Divine love), Prem Ras Madira (the 1008 leela songs of Radha Krishna), Bhakti Shatak (the concise philosophy of the Upanishads, Gita, Brahma Sutra and the Bhagwatam written in an easy to understand style), Braj Ras Madhuri (the chanting book), Radha Govind Geet (eleven thousand one hundred and eleven couplets of Radha Krishna leelas and the devotional philosophy), Yugal Shatak, Yugal Ras, Shree Krishna Dwadashi and Shree Radha Trayodashi. Up till now he is still revealing new chantings.
Shree Maharaj ji is also seen present among his devotees and showering over them the nectar of divine bliss. Shree Maharaj ji mostly resides in his ashrams at Mangarh, Barsana and Vrindavan. Thousands of people visit these Divine centers to have Shree Maharajji’s darshan and to participate in ecstatic chanting programs and celebrations. In March, 2002 a historical event took place when Jagadguru Shree Maharaj ji went to Jagannath Puri in Orissa during his visit to Bhubaneswar his amazing discourses imparted devotional love into the hearts of every soul present there.

He helps every one with self realization and getting to know the true inner soul. He currently holds a special retreat every year that focuses on the practices of Bhakti Yoga.
